The Senior Director, Marketing will lead all marketing activities related to the global launch of a new product, a potentially transformational medicine for the treatment of Cystic Fibrosis. The successful candidate will demonstrate an appreciation for strategic marketing with innovative approaches with a track record of success, as well as boundless energy and initiative. This person will thrive in an environment of rapid change; will have the proven ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams as both a leader and a participant; will be highly innovative and creative as well as have the ability to inspire creativity and innovation in their team; and have a passion for science based brands that can dramatically improve patients' lives.
Major Responsibilities
- Drive the integrated strategic and tactical commercial plans across a broad range of customer segments (health care provider, payer and patient) and markets (North America and Europe) to ensure an optimal and successful product launch
- Manage the brand’s budget to support pre-launch market development activities as well as meet or exceed company expectations
- Help to hire, lead and motivate US and Global brand marketers who will engage in activities to ensure launch readiness while also considering post-launch life cycle management and competitive dynamics
- Lead the commercial launch team and participate in key cross-functional teams to support the global launch of the new product.
- Develop innovative marketing practices in the orphan disease area to help establish our company as an industry leader
- Perform all company business in accordance with regulations (e.g. EEO, FDA, OSHA, PDMA, EPA, PhRMA, etc.) and company policies and procedures, immediately reporting all noted/observed violations to management. Demonstrates high ethical and professional standards with business contacts in order to maintain the company’s excellent reputation within the medical and pharmaceutical community.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced business degree or M.B.A. preferred, additional scientific degree would be a plus
- A minimum of 12 + years of marketing experience with several years experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology sectors and a strong preference for experience in many if not all of the following areas: specialty product launch, U.S. product launch, global product launch, specialty markets, cystic fibrosis, orphan drugs/products
- A successful track record with brand management, marketing team leadership, and talent management
- Demonstrated expertise in marketing to diverse customer segments including physicians, payers and consumers. Specialty markets experience a must with orphan drug experience a plus.
- Documented experience in overseeing life cycle management and market development/expansion activities
- An understanding of the global reimbursement environment and drivers for value based access with a focus on the U.S. and Europe
- Proven ability to successfully lead/work in a cross functional team setting (clinical, medical affairs, sales, managed markets, regulatory, legal, R&D, project management)
- Excellent analytical, communication and organizational/planning skills
- Demonstrated ability to create financial and operational objectives across business departments
