Tell us about yourself:

I grew up in St. Albans, England which is 20 miles north of London.  St. Albans is a beautiful, historic city with the 3rd largest Cathedral in Europe.  I came to the US when I was 18 on a tennis scholarship.  Due to a shoulder injury many years ago, I no longer play tennis, but I love golf.

Tell us what a day is like in your field:

I’m not sure there is a typical day since it depends which phase of a case we’re in!  We could be gearing up for a Daubert argument, preparing for trial, or actually be in trial.  Probably best summed up as pretty hectic days surrounded by less hectic days.

Tell us what you like about working at your company:

My firm affords me opportunities to work across multiple offices – LA, NY, D.C., and Chicago.  We have a fantastic team. We know how to work hard, have fun, and produce good results – not necessarily in that order.

Tell us what you would change in the industry:

My first thought was “what industry”?  Do you mean the legal industry?  Pharma industry?  Medical device industry?  If I suggest a change in the latter two areas, I may please some clients and upset others; if I suggest a change to the first one, I might do myself out of a job.  So, rather than commit anything to writing, I’m happy to discuss all three industries with anyone interested at any time!

Give us one best practice tip:

I’d like people to come away with a better understanding of how to integrate Daubert into the overall case strategy, and to know when to pursue a valid Daubert challenge as opposed to simply going through the motions (pun intended).
