Senior International Policy & Trade Advisor
JAMES A. (DEL) RENIGAR is GE Corporate's Senior Counsel for International Policy & Trade Regulation. He is responsible for GE's trade controls and improper payments compliance and provides counseling on a range of global public policy‚ trade‚ investment‚ national security‚ market access and government relations issues. Before joining GE‚ Del served as the Director of International Economics for the Western Hemisphere on the National Security Council at the White House‚ where he was responsible for advising the White House on cross-cutting trade‚ finance‚ and economic development issues in the Americas and globally. He also served as the Senior Counsel to the General Counsel and Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department Commerce‚ where he counseled the Office of the Secretary‚ the Bureau of Industry and Security and the International Trade Administration on trade‚ foreign policy and national security issues. Prior to his government service‚ Del was associated with Steptoe & Johnson in Washington‚ DC‚ where he maintained a broad international practice‚ focusing on trade controls‚ anti-bribery‚ arbitration‚ trade litigation‚ and trade policy. Following graduation from the University of Michigan Law School with honors‚ Del clerked for the Hon. Gerald E. Rosen‚ E.D. Mich. He received his undergraduate degree with high honors in Economics and Public Policy from Duke University where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
