JAMES J. MCCARRIE, II is Counsel, Provider Litigation for Aetna, Inc. James has been with Aetna since 2014. James has litigated and supervised many significant legal matters for Aetna, including complex matters such as multidistrict litigation, reimbursement disputes, and provider fraud cases against a wide range of providers in state and federal courts as well as arbitration. Prior to joining Aetna, James worked at Elliott Greenleaf – a litigation firm in the Philadelphia area. He worked in commercial litigation, including health care related litigation. Prior to joining Elliott Greenleaf, he clerked for the Honorable Lynne A. Sitarski of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. He also spent two semesters as a judicial extern for the Honorable Linda K. Caracappa of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. James is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics, and a minor in Classical Studies. James received his J.D. from Widener University School of Law, graduating magna cum laude and serving on the Delaware Journal of Corporate Law. He is a member of the Pennsylvania and New Jersey bars. James is involved with the Ancient Order of Hibernians, and has served in the past as Legal Counsel to the Pennsylvania State Board of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. James, his wife, and their son reside in South Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
