Hugh McCormick is a Partner in the New York office of Duane Morris L.L.P., an international law firm with more than 700 attorneys.  Previously he was executive vice president at Scottish Re Group Limited, a global life reinsurance company, and a partner in the insurance and tax practice groups at LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae LLP (later Dewey & LeBoeuf).  Mr. McCormick has advised domestic and international insurance and reinsurance companies on regulatory, corporate and tax matters, including credit for reinsurance and related issues, for more than 30 years.  Mr. McCormick is a contributing author of Insurance Industry Mergers and Acquisitions (Society of Actuaries, 2005) and International Life Insurance (Chancellor Publications Ltd. (UK), 2002).  Mr. McCormick has a B.A. from the University of Michigan (1968), a J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law (1977), and an LL.M. (taxation) from Georgetown University (1980).  From 1977 to 1981 he served as an attorney with the Office of Chief Counsel of the Internal Revenue Service.    Legal 500-U.S. notes Mr. McCormick’s “deep life insurance knowledge, experience and expertise,” and he was honored with the 2016 Client Choice Award by Lexology/ILO in the area of insurance and reinsurance (New York).  He is a member of ARIAS U.S.
