Eric Cernak is the Munich Re U.S. cyber and privacy risk practice leader responsible for guiding cyber and privacy risk strategy for property and casualty insurance products and services, risk accumulation management, and performance monitoring across Munich Re U.S. operations. Mr. Cernak assumed his current position in March 2015. In his capacity Mr. Cernak provides expertise and leadership in support of all cyber efforts undertaken by Munich Re's U.S. P&C operations and is charged with driving this initiative forward on behalf of the group and developing strategies to help the company compete in the cyber marketplace. Previously Mr. Cernak was vice president of strategic products for Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company responsible for managing the company’s data compromise and identity recovery insurance products. Over the past eleven years, Mr. Cernak‘s primary focus has been developing, underwriting, and managing portfolios of privacy and cyber-related insurance products. He is a regular speaker at national cyber insurance conferences and has been quoted in leading news media on the topic. Mr. Cernak holds a bachelor’s of science degree in chemical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a master’s in business administration from the University of Connecticut.
