THE HONORABLE BERLE M. SCHILLER is a Senior Judge who was appointed to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania in 2000. Prior to his appointment, he was a Judge on the Superior Court of Pennsylvania (1996-1999) and served as Chief Counsel for Federal Transit Administration of the U.S. Department of Transportation (1994-1996). Judge Schiller served in Military Intelligence in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1969-1971 and was later a Captain in the Pennsylvania National Guard from 1972-1976. The Judge is currently a member of the Judicial Conference Committee on Judicial Security (appointed by Chief Justice Roberts, October 2007). Judge Schiller is a graduate of New York University Law School (J.D. 1968) and Bowdoin College (B.A. 1965); he still serves on the Bowdoin College Alumni Interviewing Committee. He is married with four children and five grandchildren, and is an avid hunter and fisherman.
