ERIC J. SPETT is the Vice President and Assistant General Counsel at Ocwen Financial Corporation. He is responsible for managing a team of litigation attorneys and paraprofessionals in Texas that handle mortgage-related litigation cases throughout the county. Prior to Ocwen’s acquisition of Homeward Residential, Inc. in 2013, Eric ran that company’s Litigation department, as well as the Escalated Customer Resolution Unit, which was tasked with responding to inquiries from state and federal regulators, state attorneys general, private attorneys, and others. Prior to joining Homeward, Eric was Senior Counsel at Countrywide Financial Corporation, now known as Bank of America Home Loans.  Eric began his legal career as an associate attorney at Munsch Hardt Kopf & Harr, P.C., a full-service commercial law firm in Dallas, TX, after concluding a federal judicial clerkship with the Honorable Steven A. Felsenthal, United States Bankruptcy Court, Northern District of Texas. Mr. Spett graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in English from the University of Texas at Austin in 1993, and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Miami School of Law in 1997, where he graduated with honors. He is a frequent speaker on issues related to litigation and the mortgage servicing industry, Spett was a finalist in the Dallas Business Journal Best Corporate Counsel Awards program in 2010 and the Texas General Counsel Forum Magna Stella Awards in 2011.
