HON. TIMOTHY C. BATTEN was nominated by President George W. Bush in 2005 to the U.S. District Court in Atlanta. The Senate unanimously confirmed his nomination‚ and he began serving on the bench in 2006. Judge Batten graduated with Highest Honors from Georgia Tech in 1981 and Cum Laude from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1984. For 22 years he was a trial lawyer with a medium-sized general business practice law firm in Atlanta. During his career he personally tried over twenty-five civil cases to verdict and materially participated in at least fifty other jury and bench trials. His work was plaintiff- and defendant-oriented‚ encompassing a broad range of subjects‚ including medical malpractice‚ products liability‚ construction‚ commercial contracts‚ fraud‚ and personal injury. Judge Batten and his wife of twenty-two years have five daughters and one son. They live in a suburb of Atlanta.
