TED TERUO KITADA is a senior company counsel in the law department of Wells Fargo Bank‚ National Association. Mr. Kitada's primary areas of practice are: deposit services and products and bank operations‚ prepaid cards‚ Check 21‚ image exchange arrangements‚ mobile banking‚ electronic banking‚ unclaimed property‚ and compliance with a variety of state and federal laws and regulations relating generally to bank deposits and operations. Before joining Wells Fargo‚ from 1996 to 1997‚ Mr. Kitada was corporate counsel to U.S. Bancorp (formerly known as First Bank System and successor in interest to U.S. Bancorp‚ Portland‚ Oregon). Before his association with U.S. Bancorp‚ from 1994 to 1996‚ Mr. Kitada was executive vice president‚ general counsel‚ and assistant corporate secretary to California Bancshares‚ Inc.‚ a bank holding company formerly headquartered in San Ramon‚ California‚ prior to its acquisition by U.S. Bancorp‚ Portland. From 1986 to 1994‚ Mr. Kitada was executive vice president‚ general counsel‚ and assistant corporate secretary to Pacific Western Bancshares‚ Inc.‚ a bank holding company formerly headquartered in San Jose‚ California‚ prior to its acquisition by Comerica Incorporated. Prior to his association with Pacific Western‚ from 1976 to 1985‚ Mr. Kitada was vice president and senior counsel to California First Bank (a predecessor in interest to Union Bank of California‚ N.A.). From 1975 to 1976‚ Mr. Kitada was an associate with the firm of Graham & James (now known as Squire‚ Sanders & Dempsey‚ LLP). Mr. Kitada received his B.A. from Stanford University (magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa) in 1971‚ his J.D. from the University of California School of Law (Boalt Hall)‚ Berkeley‚ in 1974‚ and a Masters in Regional Studies-East Asia from Harvard University in 1975. He was a member of the Executive Committee of the Business Law Section of the California State Bar from 2005-2007. He is the chair to the California Bankers Association's Legal Affairs Committee.
