ADAM J. KATZ is an Assistant United States Attorney and the Civil Health Care Fraud Coordinator for the Northern District of New York, which is comprised of 32 counties in upstate and central New York. As such, he is responsible for leading and coordinating teams of agents, investigators, auditors, agency counsel, and others in False Claims Act investigations and prosecutions involving financial fraud against the federal government. Many of these cases involve fraud against federal healthcare programs and in connection with the procurement of goods and services by the Department of Defense. Others involve fraudulent activity related to government equipment purchases, research grants, and subsidy programs. Before joining the United States Attorney’s Office in 2012, Mr. Katz served as a trial attorney with the Department of Justice, as an associate with McDermott Will & Emery, and as a law clerk to the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. He is a 2004 cum laude graduate of Syracuse University College of Law, and the immediate past president of the law school’s alumni association. He serves on the board of trustees of the Northern District of New York’s Federal Court Bar Association and the board of directors of the Bethlehem Youth Court.
