JONATHAN W. EMORD is a Principal at Emord & Associates, P.C. in Clifton, Virginia. For over twenty years, Mr. Emord has represented food, dietary supplement, drug, medical device, and cosmetic companies before the Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) and the Federal Trade Commission (“FTC”). He has defeated the FDA a remarkable eight times in federal court, earning him the title, “FDA Dragon Slayer.” He is a non-scientist member of the Board for the Certification of Nutrition Specialists. In 2010, he became the first person awarded the title “Honorary Nutrition Specialist” by the BCNS. He is a Guest Lecturer, Georgetown University Medical School, Department of Biochemistry, Course in Nutrition, and a Guest Lecturer, Georgetown University Law Center, Course in Alternative, Complementary, and Integrative Medicine Legal Issues. He is on the Review Board of the Journal of Food Product Marketing and International Journal of Food & Agribusiness Marketing. He is a member of the Planning Committee at the Constitutional Institute at George Washington’s Mount Vernon. He formerly served as a Vice President at the Cato Institute in Washington, D.C. He is routinely consulted by industry, Congress, and the media on FDA and FTC regulatory issues. He is the author of several law review articles and four critically acclaimed books: Freedom, Technology and the First Amendment (1991); The Rise of Tyranny (2008); Global Censorship of Health Information (2010); and Restore the Republic (2012).
