EDWARD ELLIS is a Vice President responsible for claims administration of Markel Corporation Reinsurance Claims Department quota share and excess of loss claim management. Ed is a part of the Global Re Division team since its 2013 purchase of Alterra (which was formed out of the merger of Harbor Point & Max Capital) and was with Harbor Point since its formation with the sale of Chubb Re. He joined Chubb Re in 2003 after a long career at Chubb & Son. At Chubb & Son, Ed had a multitude of various claim technical and administration management responsibilities that included manager of the NY Zone branch office and other home office and claims management positions in Automobile, Property, Casualty, Boiler & Machinery, Professional Liability and other Specialty Subsets’ insurance on Domestic and International claims levels. Ed has been a speaker at various industry seminars and is a working member and Claims committee chairman of the RAA claims committee. He obtained his BA in American Studies and is a member of the AEI Society of Claims Law Associates. He achieved his Certified Property & Casualty (CPCU) designation, Senior Claim Law Associate (SCLA) Gold and various Associate in Claims (AIC) 33, 34, 35, 36 claims law designations. He is a Certified Property Casualty Intercompany Arbitrator.
