Robert Alan Wake
General Counsel at Maine Bureau of Insurance
Robert Alan Wake is the General Counsel of the Maine Bureau of Insurance, where he recently celebrated a quarter century of service. In an earlier life, he received a Ph.D. in algebraic geometry, then taught at the University of Maine and at UC Santa Cruz before going back to school, where he was editor-in-chief of the Harvard Law Revue (not to be confused with its usually-more-serious sister publication). He participates actively in educational presentations and NAIC activities. At the NAIC, Bob has been active on a wide range of task forces and working groups, including the Principle-Based Reserving Implementation Task Force and the Reinsurance Task Force. In 2006, he received the NAIC’s Robert Dineen Award for outstanding contributions by a career insurance regulator.
