Mercedes K. Meyer, Ph.D., is a partner in the Intellectual Property Practice Group at Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP. She and her team provides strategic intellectual property counseling to clients in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology areas, including domestic and foreign companies of all sizes. She focuses on patent prosecution, transactions, and asset management, which extends to due diligence investigations and the preparation of validity, infringement and freedom to operate opinions regarding biotechnology and pharmaceutical patents.  Mercedes has a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Bryn Mawr College in 1988, a Ph.D. in virology from the University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at Houston and The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, and a J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center in 1996.  She is admitted to practice in Texas and the District of Columbia and registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.  She co-authored Patent Ethics: Prosecution (4th ed. 2016). Mercedes is a past Board Member and Secretary of the AIPLA Board of Directors (2009-2013).
