The Honorable Sue L. Robinson

THE HONORABLE SUE L. ROBINSON was appointed to the United States District Court for the District of Delaware in December 1991. Judge Robinson served as Chief Judge of that Court from June 2000 to June 2007. She was a member of the Judicial Conference of the United States from 2000-2003. Judge Robinson served as the United States Magistrate Judge for the District of Delaware from February 1988 to December 1991. She served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Delaware from December 1983 to February 1988. Judge Robinson was an associate attorney at Potter Anderson & Corroon from June 1978 to December 1983.  For much of Judge Robinson's tenure on the district court bench, Delaware's patent docket was the heaviest per judge docket in the country. As a result, Judge Robinson has ushered more than one thousand patent cases to closure, including many of the decades-long series of stent cases. She has presided over more than 100 patent trials.  In November 2011, the Philadelphia Intellectual Property Law Association presented its Award for Outstanding Achievement in Intellectual Property to Judge Robinson, the first district court judge to be so recognized. She was elected a member of The American Law Institute in April 2015. In June 2016, the New Jersey Intellectual Property Law Association presented its Jefferson Medal to Judge Robinson.
