Beginning in 1994 with the Foreign Trade Law, China has been steadily building up its trade control system, which now appears to be taking shape. In late 2024, China published regulations on dual-use items. In early 2025, regulations for the AFSL were published. These signal China’s willingness to match the U.S. in a trade war. During this comprehensive workshop, we’ll explore China’s emerging export control system, the AFSL, and other countermeasures so you can avoid risks on both sides of the Pacific, and how you can avoid the emerging risks. Head back to your desk with insights you can use and best practices to navigate China’s evolving trade control system.

  • Get a deep dive on the “Regulations on the Implementation of the Anti-Foreign Sanctions Law” issued in April 2025 – what are the new risks and how do companies outside of China avoid them?
  • What foreign laws do Chinese authorities consider “discriminatory restrictive measures”?
  • Strategies for screening potential partners and customers to ensure companies are not doing business with targeted entities
