Women-leaders-logo-finals-dark-colors “No one can promote you like you can promote you.” That sentence echoed the theme at today’s ACI Women Leaders in Financial Services Law conference held at New York City’s Carlton Hotel. With over 75 women in attendance and another full day of workshops Tuesday, June 16th, the event, part of ACI’s Women Leaders in Law Series, got off to a strong start Monday morning. Serving as an ice-breaker and introduction to the full program, the first panel of the day, “Welcome Exercise: Building and Cultivating a Personal Brand to Carve out Your Space in the Financial Service Legal World” began at 9:00am and was followed by “No Ceilings: Increasing the Prominence of Women in Leadership Positions and Empowering Women in the Financial Services Community.” Led by counsel from Bank of America Merrill Lynch, National Creditors Connection, Inc., ADP LLC, American Express, Prudential Financial, “No Ceilings” was both informative and inspirational, with personal stories blended with professional advice and an overall message of female empowerment. Sharing in laughter, stories and experiences, the energy in the air could be described as warm, friendly and uplifting. Following “No Ceilings” was the panel, “Advancing the Financial Services Legal Community: Overcoming Implicit Gender Bias and Creating and Sustaining a Robust Network” featuring speakers from BNY Mellon, Deutsche Bank AG, Citigroup Inc., and MassMutual Financial Group. As a collective group, the panel all stood behind the idea that women, not just in financial services law, but as a whole, shouldn’t be afraid to speak up, to ask for what they want, and to know their value. Tomorrow’s session features Advice from General Counsel on Embracing Influence and Power and Professional Development and Coaching for Women Leaders: Improving Negotiation, Public Speaking, and Crisis Management Skills.  Topics to be discussed include:
  • Mentoring and guidance for attorneys at all stages of their career to advance within the ranks of the financial services legal world
  • What are GCs looking for in their relationships with outside counsel and with their legal teams?
  • Skills necessary to thrive at the executive level
  • Exploring the differences between tradition male and female negotiation and communication techniques
  • Exhibiting the most effective non-verbal communication and body language
  • Concrete, real-world examples of engaging in impactful communication and handling difficult situations
We hope you will be part of this conversation. Register today.
